Joel Andersson is an award-winning harmonica player and one of the most accomplished and innovative musicians of his generation. He has developed a completely new way of playing Irish traditional music on the harmonica — combining deep respect for the tradition with his own creative approach.

As a highly regarded harmonica customizer, Joel has pioneered new tunings and instrument modifications that open up fresh musical possibilities. His collaboration with the harmonica brand SEYDEL led to the creation of the Easy Third tuning, now considered essential for anyone exploring Irish music on harmonica.

Born on the Arctic Circle in northern Sweden, Joel honed his craft through long, dark winters under the northern lights — an experience that shaped his powerful, rhythmic, and unmistakable playing style. Today, he performs with world-class musicians, including Enda Scahill, in the band The Dark Well.
