Joel Andersson is a world-renowned harmonica player, known for playing Irish folk music. His performances are a charming blend of technical brilliance, musicality and stage presence.

Joel seamlessly weaves complicated rhythms and harmonies into his playing. On top of this he sometimes uses a loop pedal and a stomp box, with the help of these modern tools Joel manages to breathe new life into Irish folk music while staying within the traditional framework.

In addition to his musical skill, Joel is also one of the world's leading harmonica builders, www.jaharmonicas.com. His deep understanding of the instrument allows him to create custom-built harmonicas that push the boundaries of sound and expression. Thanks to this, Joel has succeeded in expanding the harmonica's sound palette and enabled a new soundscape.

During his performances, Joel often shares fascinating stories about the history of the harmonica, the challenges of building instruments and the inspiration behind his music. These anecdotes provide an insight into the world of harmonica and Irish folk music. Join me on a harmonica-themed journey around the green island, Ireland.

Born in Piteå, a small town 200 km south of the Arctic Circle in the north of Sweden, Joel Andersson got his first harmonica at the age of 2, and began playing professionally at the age of 13. Growing up with a father who listened to a lot of Irish music, and who always has been playing a variety of instruments, Joel has always had music around him. Joel has toured and given harmonica workshops in many countries from the cold and dark north of Finland, Germany, Scandinavia to Greece, Canaries, England and Ireland.
